Our Curriculum

At SunnyFields Learning Center we follow the guidelines of the “Creative Curriculum”. This guideline states that it is important to determine if every child is developing and learning as expected in the four areas of development (social/emotional, physical, cognitive, and language). However, as educators, we are aware that each child has individual needs and differences. At our center we can build relationships that enable all children to thrive.

All four of our classrooms are divided into various learning centers in accordance to the Creative Curriculum philosophy. Students will participate in various activities in order to promote and strengthen learning and development. The Creative Curriculum also stresses the importance of play in a young child’s early stages of life. When children play with learning materials they develop at their own pace with guidance from their teachers.

Infants

We believe that, above all, children at this age need love and nurturing. They also need consistency and personal attention. Our teachers are experienced, and many have been with us since our inception in 1991. We think that our strength lies in the level of personal care and consistency that our teachers provide. In addition, we provide a safe and clean environment with activities and toys that stimulate development and growth. We also provide parents with detailed written feedback on their child's day. This is specific for every child.

Toddlers

This is a stage when children are curious and love to explore. They are fascinated by the world and eager to experience new things. Our toddlers enjoy many activities including stories, flannel board, art, singing, activity records, puzzles, and outdoor play. Our teachers provide the personal attention and nurturing that is so important. We are aware of the importance of daily communication with parents. Because of this, we provide all parents with individual, detailed feedback every day.

Preschool

Our curriculum focuses on theme and letter weeks, which include various activities relating to numbers and letters. In addition, our program is enriched with music, computers, sports, creative movement, and Spanish. We frequently enhance our program by inviting "special visitors" who tell children stories and introduce them to farm animals, reptiles, puppets, and science.
